Well after so many weeks of what seems to be almost constant rain, it was amazing today to have such a lovely sunny day. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and in our garden in pots that at times have been under water we have a beautiful miniature iris..
We bought them whilst in Lochem, Holland in October 2013 and planted them into pots to remind us of our wonderful holiday and the friends we saw during our visit. Despite every type of weather that has been thrown at them they have defied all odds and started to flower most wonderfully.
The weather has been a complete pain over the last six weeks as it has for many folk. Luckily despite living within 100 yards of the Afon Llwyd and the Mon & Brecon Canal our problem has not been water coming upwards!!!!nThe wind has been so strong it has slightly lifted the metal sheets on the main workshop roof and in turn it sent the rain in under the metal sheets onto the wooden roof underneath. needless to say that is now like a paddling pool which has sprung a leak (or two or three or more) and now a journey across the workshop floor is punctuated by the necessity of stepping round buckets catching the water dripping downwards lol!. However we are still working but having to keep bringing the items being made indoors each night to keep them dry! As soon as the weather, hopefully settles, then we will re-roof the workshop, until then it is a case of snorkel and flippers lol!
Over the last few weeks we have heard that we have been accepted to attend Wonderwool Wales at the end of April, Woolfest at the end of June, Fibre East at the end of July and the Bakewell Wool Gathering in October. This week we have also been invited to attend the Broughton Gathering in Scotland in August. We are looking forward to all these events and will be holding wheel surgeries at each event .
Our Folksy shop (http://folksy.com/shops/Woodlandturnery) has been very busy lately and it has been nice to see old customers returning and also a number of new customers finding us.
Let’s just hope we can have a few more sunny days and a lot less rain so things can be dried out, moved on and long awaited orders completed.
